Most instructors learn about collisions from a textbook. David attended them. Twenty years of roads policing across the Lothians and the Borders means he has seen exactly how a moment's inattention on a rural bend, a misjudged gap on the A1 or a rushed decision at a busy junction plays out — and that experience shapes every lesson he teaches.

He qualified as a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor in 2017 and is a signatory of the ADI Code of Practice. He holds Advanced Driver Class 1 and Advanced Motorcyclist qualifications, escorted the Olympic Torch during the 2012 London Olympics, and is currently working toward a Diploma in Coaching and Behaviour Change for Safe Driving.

His teaching style is deliberately calm. Lessons follow the DVSA's recommended Client-Centred Learning approach — structured questioning, self-reflection and honest feedback, rather than shouted instructions. The goal is a driver who understands why a decision is right, not one who has memorised a set of test routes.

David is DBS and PVG cleared for enhanced safeguarding, and teaches one-to-one in a well-maintained, fully insured dual-controlled car. Learners are never doubled up: the hour you pay for is entirely yours.
